I have work to do
...so what am I even doing here?
My to-do list is miles long
And I am so easily distracted from laundry, cleaning, reorganizing my office, paperwork, and even writing. Yes. I get distracted from the writing tasks on my to-do list, but here I am, and now I’m going to try to explain this substack even though I don’t yet know what it will become.
1. Why am I here?
I like what’s happening here. I like to read, especially short. I like to write, especially short. And I think you do, too. I’ve consistently sent a new, original micro story to my Friday Micro email list every week since May 2022. Now I want to share some of them here. With you.
2. Why are you here?
You aren’t here for end-all, be-all writing advice. You, like me, are here for decent conversation, for camaraderie. No matter where you are in life and in the world, you’re welcome. Be kind. Be courteous. Together we can discuss writing, reading, life in general, and maybe a bit of politics. For the record, I’m in the US and am not a fan of the current administration (that’s putting it mildly). That said, I don’t often share my political opinions in public spaces.
3. Friday Micro is weekly
It’s weekly, on weekends, and in spite of the name, not always on Fridays. Stories are fiction or CNF (creative nonfiction) and usually 50 - 100 words. Tiny. Micro. You’ll read one a week for as long as my muse continues supplying inspiration. I’ll probably throw in a short essay, reading recommendation, or writing advice occasionally.
